Shots and Shoes

These are two of my favorite things; shots and shoes. They make me smile, and they make people a whole lot more fun. First things first, the shots.

This past weekend, while out at a bar with so

me friends, I ran into an ex that I hadn't seen in months. It was, needless to say, very awkward, and he would not stop staring at our group. So, in order to help him get the point, I sent him the worst shot I could think of - a Cement Mixer. Yes it was a little mean of me, but it seemed appropriate. If you're wondering, a Cement Mixer is vodka and Bailey's - and it curdles. In response to my heinous shot, he sent me something called a Hot Bitch, with a message from the bartender saying that he thought it seemed fitting for me (little does he know that a Hot Bitch is what I aspire to). It might have been the worst shot I have ever had - gin, whiskey and tabasco sauce. But for those of you who, like

me, enjoy sending revenge shots, these are two of the best.

Now on to the shoes. I have a new pair of lovers, and they will soon be mine. Town Shoes has a new collection inspired by Barbie, so of course

I found a pair that I love. Normally i am not into

open toed ankle boots, but these have changed my mind. They are feminine and edgy, and I love the combination of hot pink, leather and a stilleto. For a cool $130, I have found that I can't stop thinking about them, so they should be making an appearance with me at the bar in a very short amount of time.

Confess

I love a good dirty secret. Mine, a friend's, a total strangers. There's something about a confession that makes you feel so much better; either getting a weight off your shoulders, or realizing that someone shares in your dirty laundry. I am an avid follower of Post Secret - I get the same thrill as every other follower, because reading someone's secret is like getting a free pass into a stranger's life. You learn something about someone you don't even know, and along the way you might find one that you can completely relate to.

Well I have a new favorite confessional website, and this one is strictly for the ladies. The site is called Truu Confessions, and provides a space for women to vent - anonymously - to other women about everything going on in their lives. With categories like Wife, Office, Body/Diet, and Single/Dating, there is a place for every woman to confess to other women. My two favorite aspects of this site; the Military Wives section, and the "Me Too" button. There is a section of Truu Confessions dedicated completely to the confessions of Military Wives, something that I think is incredibly considerate and necessary for those who have loved ones over-seas. As for the "Me Too" button, it is located on every confession that is posted, and is similar to the "Like" button on Facebook. When you find a confession you can relate to, simply click the button - I prefer this much more than the Facebook version.

Ladies, if you enjoy a good secret like I do, I recommend checking out both Post Secret and Truu Confessions, because I'm sure you can find something that makes you laugh, cry, or say "God that sounds like me".

To Tweet, or Not To Tweet

I have a few friends ( who will remain nameless) who are obsessed with the Twitter phenomenon. And when I say obsessed, I do mean it. They live to Tweet. I, on the other hand, have never been able to really get into it. Until now.

Normally I do not find Twitter to be all that exciting, and don't even understand it most of the time. I prefer Facebook to Twitter, and I prefer a book to both of those. But two college students from the University of Chicago have created something incredible - and hilarious - that needs to be shared; Twitterature. Alexander Aciman and Emmett Rensin have taken dozens of literary classics (from Shakespeare to Dante to The Beatles), and have turned them into easy-to-read tidbits of 20 tweets or less. For someone who doesn't get Twitter, this seemed strange. But it is actually hilarious, and I don't use that word lightly. Summarizing the novels from the point of view of the protagonist, throwing in slang like WTF and PWNED, makes it an easy subway read. And surprisingly, each set of Tweets gives you very good idea of how the novels work.

I'm not suggesting that you read Twitterature in place of the classic works themselves, but if you need a light and fluffy read for your commute to work or school, or for lying by the beach now that the weather is warming up, I definitely recommend it.

Welcome to the Neighbourhood

Hello out there. So I have decided that I need an outlet for everything I have to say, and trust me, there is a lot. And what better way than a blog? I have only had one previous blog experience, and that was a school assignment, so I hope this time it will be a little bit different. More on my own terms.

If you are asking yourself what the point of this blog even is, I'll tell you. I have found that I love sharing things with people. I brag about books I'm reading, bars I have been too, and places that i stay on vacation. Through this blog, I'll be sharing everything that I try, from martinis to hotels to bathing suits. I love bringing things I love to the people I love, so I hope you guys enjoy.
